Visit Deventer City Hall on Open Monumentendag!

This weekend is Open Monumentendag, and Deventer City Hall - for which atelier PRO did the renovation and interiors - is open to the public. Throughout the weekend, you can visit the historic part of the complex with and without a guide, ask questions to the mayor, while there is also a special programme in the new public hall!

Deventer City Hall - address: Grote Kerkhof 4 - is open Saturday 7/9 and Sunday 8/9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is not necessary, and admission is free.

About the project

Deventer's new City Hall, designed by Neutelings Riedijk architects, was completed in 2015; this new building is linked to the 17th-century Raadhuis and the adjacent historic Landshuis. In order to bring old and new together, atelier PRO was asked for the interior design of the entire complex; at the same time, we also drew for the restoration of the old building.

In the interior, we consciously opted for contemporary interventions with a historical feel, such as the large, pixelated ‘flower carpets’ that evoke the atmosphere of a Dutch still life. The use of colour refers to pigments from the 17th century, with tints such as ultramarine, indigo, umber, madder and lead-tin yellow.
